CREATE

It’s time to stretch your creative chops..!

Crazy creature creation

Some creature collective nouns really are curious, as you’ll see when you read Collective Memories

Now you can create your own creature and make up its collective noun. The more crazy and curious the better!

  1. Choose a head, body and tail combo from the 12 pictures here.

  2. Use the combo as a guide to draw your creature.

  3. Colour in your crazy creature.

  4. Name your creature and give it a curious collective noun!

If you’d rather use different creature body parts, that’s fine too. Draw your own head, body and tail or doodle your crazy creature from scratch. Then name it and make up your curious collective noun!

Write your own rhyme

Choose from this list of animals and their collective nouns, or find a different one, and then write you own silly collective memory. Then when you’ve finished, draw a matching daft doodle!

Gang of buffalo

Quiver of cobras

Murder of crows

Cast of falcons

Skulk of foxes

Gaggle of geese

Family of otters

Dray of squirrels

Bale of turtles

Zeal of zebras

A few tips:

  1. The rhyme should have four lines.

  2. Halfway through lines 1 and 3 there should be a word that rhymes with the last word in the same line.

  3. The rhyming words in line 1 and 3 should all rhyme with each other.

  4. The last words in line 2 and 4 should rhyme with each other.

  5. The rhyme should be as nutty and daft as possible!
