About…
I grew up in a London suburb with two brothers and one sister. We lived with our mum and dad, who were a policeman and a dinner lady (not in that order).
Outside of home, I was a shy boy, often happy with just my own thoughts for company. A daydreamer, I could be caught staring out the window as often as at the classroom board. I think this is where my fondness for coming up with silly rhymes and doodles started.
I now live in south London with my partner and our best pal, Wilma.
Wilma is a white-tortoiseshell (or ‘calico’) moggy and a brilliantly bonkers one at that…
She’s splits her time between sofa snoozes, demanding head rubs and getting up to mischief. Wilma loves hanging out in her cat tree, playing with any kind of ball and eating quite expensive cat food.
About my nincompoopery
My most recent book, Lollipops and Lemon Squeezers, is an adventure through the curiosities and culture of our capital; telling stories of the city through language, humour and a proud sense of place. It is a fun look at London that shows there is poetry all around us.
I have two other books, both of which have a similar sense of fun and irreverence. My second book, Collective Memories, takes animal collective nouns to imagine a series of ridiculous scenarios that explore rhyme, the double meanings of words and the natural environment. And my first book, Recycled Parsnips, is a simply a collection of silly rhymes and doodles to make non-grown-ups smile or smirk, whether you’re 8 or 88!
You can find a few bits and bobs of nincompoopery and some limericks here on my website. I have also published several silly rhymes and doodles in print and online poetry magazines, including The Toy magazine, The Caterpillar magazine and The Dirigible Balloon.
But the best place to find new nincompoopery from me every week is by following me on social media:
